February Card Club

I have a small window of time, and I want to post these from our card club last month! :)

This first I saw on Nancy Riley’s blog and just adored.  Too cute.  We changed very little about it!

Those colors didn’t photograph very well, but that is the rich razzleberry and regal rose.  Very cute in person! :)   I just love that cupcake punch!!  The cute sentiment is from the coordinating create-a-cupcake stamp set.  Love love.

This one is very similar to a swap that I received at the Leadership convention.  I don’t know off-hand who it was from … if it’s yours, let me know! :)

It took me forever to use the letterpress plates with the Big Shot machine.  Now that I’ve “discovered” them I’m pretty addicted.  The effect of these plates in person is stunning, really.  We used this same plate in the V-day class.   The button is one of the cutie big buttons, and the stamps are from Always Elegant — a stamp set that you can earn for free during Sale-a-bration, by the way!  (This is in the “extra free options” pdf on the left side, or click here for sale-a-bration info.)

And finally we made this cutie little baby card.

I loved this layout/design by Heather.  This stamp set is a favorite of mine from sale-a-bration – Punch Bunch.  Check out the top pdf on the left for all the freebie options! :)    We colored the image with our awesome markers.

Time’s up, tootles!! :)

January Card Club

Time to wipe some dust of this little blog and post some cards! :)

We made 3 cards in January card clubs.

This cute li’l guy, a fun simple chocolate card.  Mmm chocolate.

We added some crystal effects to the frosting on the cupcakes.  I’m still loving that Greenhouse Gala paper. (and the coordinating Friends Never Fade stamps on the background there.)

You know we had to toss in some Valentine cuteness. :)   We pulled out the cutie mccutie Valentine Defined.  I love this set, and I love that it can be used beyond Valentine’s Day.  Lots of possibilities with this one.

To toss in a little vintage love, we made this one.

Now this one I’m pretty sure I copied very closely from another lovely person, and darn, I can’t find the link after this long.  Anyone? Is it yours? :)   The You’re a Gem stamp set is a favorite right now.  This would be fun for a bridal shower, birthday, etc.  Wouldn’t this card be cute with a little crown charm dangling on it??

Off we go to little bitty dance class, check back soon for February’s projects! :)

December card club

Our cards for December card club were some of those that I lovingly replicated from others I have seen around the web, magazines, blogs, etc — and now that it’s been a few weeks, I need to remember where I found the originals.  Eeps!  Here we go. :)

This first one is very simple with lots of layers.

It’s a pretty basic layout, easy to put together.  Always a good thing. :)   In card club we added a rhinestone to the tip of the tree for a little bling.

For this one we used the vintage wallpaper embossing folder, and brayered over it with cherry cobbler ink.  I’ve seen this technique all over the place lately, but I believe I saw it on Patty’s blog first.

This layout was partly inspired by a birthday card from my cute friend Jen.  Are you reading this, Jen?? :)   And I HAD to use my dasher stamp somewhere!  I love this one!!  It’s a single stamp (not sold in a set), and a favorite for sure.

Again, some rhinestone bling. :)   I’m a little addicted to those.  They are so inexpensive and easy to stick here and there.  (Love the pearls, too.)

Our 3rd project was this cute gift.  This one was copied very directly from the cute Ms. Becky.  I even used the same snowman inside from Punch Pals, since he’s so darn cute.

This one is fun because it can be either a gift card holder or just a cute card.

And see this little trick I figured out?  If you need a quick faux button, use your 1/16 hole punch to make 2 bitty holes side by side in a scrap.  Then center those holes in your small flower punch (picturing this w/out a photo??), and you have this button-ish shape.  Add a little crystal effects for that button shine, of course. :)

Phew, busy day, must sleep!  Tootle-oo!

November card clubs

Card club girls, if you want a surprise for club, STOP reading now! :)

Anywho …

So with it being November n’ all, we’re making a couple Christmas cards!

First up?  A penny spinner card!  These are so fun, so simple, and a big wow to the recipient.  I got this layout from one of Max’s meetings.  (her cute card seen here.)

Shooting that light pink on a white background wasn’t the greatest idea. :)   Can you see it?  I used pink pirouette here.

I love this paper!  This is from the Candy Cane Christmas paper.  Look at the awesome glossy sparkle here.

And the button?  Cuteness.  This Candy Cane paper coordinates with this pack of big buttons and even with a pack of designer fabric (You can go all sorts of crazy with the cute stuff here — also check out the coordinating stamp set … or this one, rub-ons, vinyl, and countdown calendar!)

I think maybe someone small wanted attention while I was taking these pictures. :)

This next one is almost an identical case from Dawn Olchefske.  Her card is gorgeous, and I just changed tiny things.  I even ended up using the same dsp, though I was originally planning to use the Deck the Halls paper.

The bottom of the card is an embossed & sanded window sheet!  I’m excited to show this technique to my club girlies. :)

We’re also making a non-Christmas card.  I used a birthday sentiment on the inside, but the girls can choose which sentiment they want from the curly cute stamp set.

I’m liking this layout these days.  It’s from a Stampin’ Success magazine (a magazine just for demonstrators), and I also used it in my upcoming Holly & Jolly class.

The inside is perfect for a gift card.  (My business card is just a space filler. :) )

I used the scallop envelope die, and extended it to gift card size using Patty Bennett’s handy tip.

Happy stamping, all!

Laura :)

This is the card that never ends … (Oct card club)

Oh man, that has to be my most annoying post title yet.  My apologies. :)

But oh-so-appropriate, since this is, after all, a never-ending card!

Have you seen these?  Ever made one?  So simple, yet so impressive to those that you show it to!  I saw this card in person and wanted to figure it out, and luckily the cute Dawn just so happens to have a tutorial video on her blog.  Yay!  Click here to watch the video on her blog.  (Thanks Dawn!)

*a note here — I need to really learn to use this camera, but in the meantime, don’t look too closely :) *

This is the card front.  The beginning, if you will.

The 2nd page.  (I’ll show in a sec how I got there.)

The 3rd page.

And, the 4th page.

Ready to see that in action?  Sort of?  :)

At the front page, you can see how the sides open like window shutters.

Both sides fold back, and you have page 2.

Those 2 white square fold back (over top and bottom), and it opens to page 3.

Like so. :)

Then that center part opens, like again opening a window, and you have page 4.

Following me at all? :)

And there you go!  And if you fold back the flaps of page 4?

Yup, back to the front.

It will make more sense after you watch Dawn’s video. :)

We made this in my card club this month.  We made this so that it could be used as either a fancy card, or a cute little brag book to put Halloween photos on the pages.

We used the Wicked Cool, Aviary, and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets and the Wicked Fun designer paper. Let me know if you have questions about anything else we used! :)

G’night,

Laura

August Card Club

I just wrapped up my card clubs for the month.  I love these girls!  We have so much fun.

I just love, love, love this owl punch.  I think I gasped when I 1st saw it in the new catalog. :)   (I am, after all, addicted to all things punch related, so you know I looked there 1st!)

#118074, $16.95

We used li’l owlie on this first card.

How cute is he with that Play date designer series paper?

#117168, $9.95 (12 sheets!)

This is the inside of that one.

On that card we also used the woodgrain stamp (a must have for the owl peek cards!) and the uber yummy designer buttons. (And yes, more punches.)

For our 2nd card, I did it again … I couldn’t help myself.  I am a sucker for a cute card that must be replicated.  This was the original (and hey, LW and I have the same initials :) ), and here is our very similar version.

(The one we made in club did vary a little as this was my prototype, but close enough.  I should have taken a more accurate picture later.)

Are you noticing a theme yet with the crumb cake color as our card base?  Well, yes, I didn’t realize this until I was done with all 3 cards. :)   No secret that it’s a favorite.  Here is our 3rd card using (gasp) crumb cake as a base color …

This one was very directly inspired by Nance — thank you! :)

That stamp set, apple blossoms, is one of my favorites right now.  It’s a hostess set, meaning you can get it for free by hosting a party with me.  I love free. :)

And that little bitty tag?  Cute, no?  That is using the tiny tags stamp set and cute little jewelry tag punch.

Okie dokie, bye!

Laura :)

June Card Club

I am now working on July’s card club projects and realize I didn’t post June’s.  Here we go! :)

Alright, sometimes I see a card that is so cute, I just need to replicate it.  I try to switch it up and make it my own, but I tried on this one and the original was just too cute and stuck in my mind.

curly-label-x4

I love cute simplicity in cards.  And have I mentioned that I love punches? :)   This is CASE’d (copy & share everything) right from Leanne’s blog, seen here.

This one is a bookmark card.  I’ve seen these often and made a couple different kinds.

bookmark-card

As a reader, I always like the thought of receiving a card and a bookmark.  How fun. :)

bookmark-card-2

And finally we made this fun Build-a-Bear card.

bear-girl

Isn’t she cute?  My little girl is happy to know that now that my clubs are done for June, this card is hers. :)   This was a very easy and fun card with the Big Shot machine and bear dies. (there are several, and more coming out in the new catalog July 1st.  Let me know if you need a new catalog.) The letter A is from the Go Go Boots alphabet set.  And the cute polka-dotted background?  A favorite of mine, used very often. :)   This is made using polka-dot impressions pad.

Tootles!

May Card Club

For our card clubs this month we get to play around a little bit with some new Summer Mini products. :) (If you don’t have this catalog yet, let me know!)

The papers and ribbons vary in the projects that my club girls have made/will make, but this is the basic idea.

This is a basic tri-fold card.  Fun and simple to make (don’t ask my girls about the ribbon issue we had, hee hee!) and it makes a fun “wow” for whoever you give it to.  Here it is all folded up …

trifold

… and this is the inside.

trifold-inside

We used the new Elements of Style stamp set (love that hummingbird!!) and some retired paper.  This would also be darling with our new Island Oasis paper, though.

This next card is a kind-of-sort-of Father’s Day card. :)   The girls have the option of making it one if they want.  We did a little bit of a fun technique, paper piecing, on the truck.  So simple, but such a fun look!

loads-of-love

We used the always cute Loads of Love stamps here.  The coordinating stamp set, Loads of Love Accessories, is a bonus cutie cute set that we didn’t use on this particular card.

Our 3rd card uses that fun new Island Oasis paper.  It’s bright, colorful, cheery and fun.

tropical

Aren’t the daisies cute?  I love this die!  We used the Daisies Flower #2 die with my Big Shot machine.  We adhered them to the card using a large clear rhinestone brad and dimensional.  Another bunch of flowers that would coordinate perfectly with this paper is the new Island Floral die from the Summer Mini catalog.  We also used the polka dot impressions folder on the white background paper.  Love the texture. :)

That about (quickly) covers it!  Tootles!

April Card Club

My April card clubs are already over, but I haven’t posted the projects yet.  Here we go! :)

This adorable bunny box is 100%, completely copied from Marie’s creation.  It was darling — I couldn’t stand it.  Must … make … own … bunny!

(She shares complete directions if you’d like to make your own.)

bunny-box1

Besides, have I mentioned I’m a punch-a-holic?  Punch art is right up my alley.  I must have a style similar to Marie, because I find myself gravitating to her blog often to ooh and aah.  Luckily for the un-creative like myself there are the creative among us, willing to share ideas. :)

(And yes, I realize that Easter is over, but spring isn’t!  Bunnies are springy!)

For this one we used the Just Buzzin’ By stamp set and did some watercoloring with the watercolor crayons and blender pens. (See the video on my last post.)

bees

It was fun to pull out my color spritzer tool, also — haven’t used that one in a while!  (Can you see the speckles in the background?)  Oh, and you really can’t have honey without crystal effects, can you?

I wish I could say that I came up with this idea for our last card.  I have no idea who really did come up with it 1st … I just know that these are very popular to make right now. :)

tulips

See, those tulips are the brilliant part — they are made of the bird’s wing from the bird punch!  And the vase is actually just the ornament punch with the bottom trimmed off.  Brilliant, right? :)

Add a little sponging for dimension, and voila … a cutie patootie tulip card.

Thanks for peeking in! :)

March Card Club

I’m still here! :) I wanted to post our projects from card club this month.  We only have 2 projects this month, since 1 of them is more time-intensive and equals a couple cards.

1st, the simple card.

bird-card

One great perk of being a demo is the monthly magazine from Stampin’ Up.  It’s always full of great ideas … like that card. :)   That is pretty close to a sample provided by Stampin’ Up.  I love that bird punch!!  And the texture on the razzleberry paper?  I used the Manhattan Flower impressions die (just a corner of it) and the Sizzix Big Shot.

Oh, and I’m still using my huge pack of Sweet Pea paper.  I’ve used it in clubs and workshops for months and I still have a ton of it.  It lasts forever, so it’s a good thing I love it! :)

Our 2nd project is this gift card tin.  Have you noticed that I like these?

gift-card-tin

I again used clear embossing powder to give the tin a kind of faux-etched look.  Seriously, this is just one of those things you have to see in person. :)

The darling flowers are from the Sweet Pea felt (yup, they coordinate with my favorite paper!), and the crop-a-dile easily punches a hole in the tin for a ribbon handle.

(Have I mentioned that these tins are available online?  They are on the clearance rack for just $.99 while they last.)

Anywho, and here is the inside.

gift-card-tin-inside

I used the Birthday Bliss and With All My Heart stamp sets here (the background flowers are stamped with versamark ink).  I also used the punch that can be earned for FREE during Sale-a-Bration.  It’s definitely a favorite!

Email me with any other questions! :)
